So no matter what your skin type, you are bound to be benefitted from these recipes. And the best part — you just need items from your kitchen for these masks – so goodbye expensive salon treatments and ineffective but costly cosmetics!

Let’s start with the first recipe…this one is for dry skin. When you have dry skin, moisturizing is the key. Without proper moisturizing, you will tend to have flaky dry skin. But no more…so here are the…

  • Egg—1
  • Cooked oatmeal – 1 tablespoon
  • Olive oil – 1 teaspoon

  • Extract the egg white from the egg and beat until it turns frothy
  • Add to this the oatmeal and olive oil
  • Now mix these together
  • Apply on your face and neck and leave it on for about 15 minutes
  • Wash off with lukewarm water and pat dry

And now let’s see what you can do for oily skin. When your skin is oily, the chances of acne and pimples are high. And oily skin attracts more dirt and dust because of the excess sebum that the sebaceous glands secrete. So the best way to tackle oily skin is to keep your skin squeaky clean without depleting any necessary moisture. And here is a face mask that’ll help you do just that…

  • Egg – 1
  • Avocado – ½
  • Lemon juice – 1 teaspoon

  • Extract the egg white, beat until foamy
  • Mash the avocado, and add to the egg white
  • Add the lemon juice
  • Apply the paste on your skin, and leave for 10 minutes
  • Wipe it off gently to reveal smooth, oil free skin

With prolonged use, you will see a marked difference – thanks to the astringent properties of the lemon juice – it clears out the excess oil, while the avocado and egg white ensures the skin is not stripped of its natural moisture.

Usually oily skin is more prone to acne, but that doesn’t rule out that other skin types like combination skin is not acne prone. For acne prone skin, you need something that is a strong antibacterial agent – and in this face mask, you get just that.

  • Honey – 2 tablespoons
  • Nutmeg – 1 teaspoon
  • Cinnamon – 1 teaspoon

  • Mix all the ingredients together into a paste
  • Apply it evenly on your face and neck – with special emphasis on the breakouts
  • Leave it on for about 10-15 minutes. Your skin might feel warm, but that’s just the cinnamon working on the breakouts
  • Wipe off gently and rinse your face

The honey in this mask has antibacterial as well as moisturizing properties. The cinnamon and nutmeg work in tandem to soothe the current breakouts. And the honey also works to get rid of any scars left behind due to the breakouts. With regular use, you’re bound to see a difference.

Here’s How To Make your Own Concealer, Primer AND BB Cream!

Let’s talk about make up essentials today. And let’s go D-I-Y. No we aren’t talking about color and stuff that most people understand by makeup. What we are talking about is the base stuff – the concealer, the primer and the BB cream.

The concealer is something that helps to cover up blemishes and of course helps you to mask your dark circles. While most people don’t bother with this, it can actually go a long way in giving you an even toned make up.

On the other hand, you have the primer. Not too many people are aware of what this does. Actually a primer is like a base that you apply under your makeup. It absorbs excess oils from the skin, and helps to keep your make up in place. It also becomes like a steady base on which your makeup looks better.

And finally the BB cream. A relatively new entrant into the beauty and skincare market, BB stands for beauty balm. These are a one-solution-for-all options. They help to keep your skin moisturized, looking dewy and protected. And they also soothe your skin. In fact, these days, many people ditch heavy make up and foundations for a light coat of BB cream, especially when dressing up for a day time look.

Now when it comes to these things, there are a few reasons for going D-I-Y rather than buying some:

  • It is difficult to match your skin tone perfectly, especially for people with tricky skin tones.
  • These are usually very expensive but the D-I-Y options actually cost a fraction.
  • If you know the D-I-Y method – you know you’ll never run out!
And now for… the instructions

The concealer

We’ll start with the concealer. A good concealer will be able to provide an opaque cover that matches the rest of your skin tone, but where needed, covers up any blemishes or dark circles.

Here is a recipe to make it – and it is pretty simple because all you will need are some loose mineral powder in your skin tone and your favorite moisturizer for sensitive skin. In the video you also get to see how to use it for best results!

Check out how to make it:

Next up is…

The primer

While the concealer is just for blemishes, the primer should be used for the whole face. Especially for parts of your face like your eyelids – prior to eye shadow. It creates a smooth and dry surface to which the rest of the makeup sticks better. In addition, by creating a layer between any harsh make up elements, it protects your skin

And here too we have a video to show you how to make your own primer – and this one is a skin soothing one too:

And finally we come to the last – and possibly the most awaited of the lot…

The BB cream

If you have a BB cream then you are almost ready to go – because it gives nourishment and moisturisation, in addition to pigment as well as protection.

For both the video as well as the detailed list of all it does, check out the video on how it is made!

Since there was so much explained in the video itself, we let it do the talking!

And now that you know how to make these beauty essentials for yourself at home – and since they work just as well as their commercially made counterpart – its time you tried them out! Best of luck!

3 Major home remedies to get rid of the yellow stain:

1. Use nail whitening agents – these are basically bleaching agents that will get rid of the stain without causing any harm to the cuticles.

  • Take half a bowl of lemon juice. Soak your fingers in this for about 10-15 minutes. Next, gently scrub the stained part with a toothbrush. Rinse your hands in lukewarm water and follow up with a gentle moisturizer. Alternatively, you can use 4-5 drops of lemon essential oil in water – in the same manner. Do this twice daily till you get the desired results.
  • Use a 3% hydrogen peroxide solution – mix 3-4 tablespoons of this solution with half a cup of water. Soak your nails in this solution for 2-3 minutes; follow it up with gentle scrubbing, and moisturizing. This too, you can do twice daily.
  • Use whitening toothpaste – apply a small coat of this toothpaste on your nails. Leave it on for about 10 minutes. Then gently scrub your nails, and clean off the lather with a cotton wad dipped in lukewarm water. You should try this process 2-3 times a week for about a month to get the best results.
  • Try using baking soda – mix two and a half tablespoons of baking soda with one tablespoon of 3% hydrogen peroxide solution in a bowl. Soak cotton balls in this solution and dab onto your stained nails. Leave on for 2-5 minutes, rinse with lukewarm water. Repeat every 6-8 days for best results.
  • You can also use a concoction of 1 tablespoon of baking soda, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and half a teaspoon of olive oil. Make into a thick paste and leave it on your nails for about 5 minutes, scrub gently and wash off with lukewarm water. Repeat every two weeks to get rid of the stains completely.

2. Use tea tree oil – in case you have yellow nails due to fungal infections, this is the best home remedy. It is a natural fungicide, brimming with antiseptic and antimicrobial properties. It helps fight the infection while getting rid of the stain. Here’s what to do –

  • Apply pure tea tree oil on your nail beds. Leave it for about 5-10 minutes. Wash off with lukewarm water. Repeat this process twice daily till the infection disappears and your nails go back to their original healthy shade.
  • You can also mix equal parts of tea tree oil and olive oil and store in an airtight container. Massage your nails with this mixture everyday — twice a day for the desired results.

3. Try manicure – this helps get rid of the stain if it results from wearing too many coats of dark nail polish, without a base coat. And to help you with the manicure process, we have a quick video right here:

Other than these, try to maintain a healthy lifestyle to be able to sport healthy nails. But if you find the stain persisting, a major health issue could be the cause – in that case, get to the doctor immediately.
